Director General of CVU named the priority tasks for the renewed composition of the CEC

"The priority tasks for the renewed composition of the CEC should be the unblocking of elections in more than 100 amalgamated territorial communities. The decision taken by the previous composition of the Central Election Commission is not only legally unfounded, but also impedes the exercise of electoral rights of citizens," commented Oleksii Koshel on the main tasks of the new CEC composition on Channel 5.

According to the Director General of CVU, among the priorities of the Central Election Commission should be the reform of the Central Election Commission itself, actively involved in the development of amendments to the electoral legislation, the development of mechanisms to counter Russia's interference in electoral processes.

"It is very important now to adopt the amendments to the Law "On Elections of the President of Ukraine" which will increase transparency in the financing of the election campaign, significantly reduce the number of advertising in the elections, and legislate on the issue of counteracting the bribing of voters. Among the urgent issues is the need for a legislative decision on the allocation of an additional 36 million UAH to reduce the level of cyber threats to the CEC's resources," said Aleksii Koshel.

According to the Director General of CVU, one of the priorities for the new composition of the Central Election Commission should be the reform of the Central Election Commission itself.

"It is necessary to develop a new version of the Law on the CEC, which provides for a significant extension of the powers of the Commission. For example, to put responsibility for organizing elections in the system of higher education. As far as the scale of corruption scandals at the elections of the rectors of universities are often no less than around the notorious majoritarians," stressed the head of the CVU.
